Baseball Drops Series Opener at UIC

The Wright State baseball team could not overcome a fast start by UIC as the Flames scored eight times over the first four innings and went on to an 8-3 Horizon League decision Friday night at Les Miller Field.
All of the scoring for the game happened over the first four innings as UIC tallied three runs in the first, two in the third and three more in the fourth while the Raiders scored once in the second and twice in the third.
WSU's run in the second came on a RBI single from R.J. Gundolff and the two in the third scored as a result of a Quentin Cate single and a Kory Twede squeeze bunt.
Casey Henn would enter the game in relief in the fifth and was able to shut out the Flames over the final five innings, but the Raiders were unable to cut into the deficit.
Casey McGrew, Cate and Aaron Fields each had two hits for Wright State (22-23, 9-8 Horizon). The Raiders and Flames conclude the three-game set with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:00 Eastern.
