
Men Drop Season Opener at #3 Ohio State

The men's basketball team dropped its season opener to #3 Ohio State 73-42 in Columbus Friday night as part of the Global Sports Shootout.
The Buckeyes held the lead throughout the first half, but the Raiders hung close and only trailed 19-14 following a John Balwigaire three at the 8:26 mark. OSU, however, closed the period with a 15-6 run,eight of those coming from Jared Sullinger, to go up 34-20 at the break.
Wright State shot 41 percent in the opening 20 minutes compared to 40 percent for Ohio State, but the Raiders attempted just 17 shots and were two of four at the foul line while the Buckeyes were 16 of 21 at the stripe.
Ohio State then opened the second half with a 10-0 run and gradually pulled away from there as the Buckeyes shot 45 percent overall compared to just 32 percent for WSU as the Raiders hit only six of 24 shots the final 20 minutes. OSU led 26-8 in points in the paint and 20-7 in points off of turnovers.
AJ Pacher paced Wright State with 13 points while Reggie Arceneaux, in his Raider debut, added 11.
Sullinger led all scorers with 19 for Ohio State while William Buford had 13 and Aaron Craft 10.
Wright State opens the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, November 13, as the Raiders host Kenyon starting at 3:00. That game will be the second of a doubleheader with the WSU women as they take on Ball State at 1:00.
