DAYTON – Wright State head men's basketball coach Clint Sargent has announced the addition of transfer Nikola Djapa to join the Raider program.
Nikola Djapa (pronounced Nick-oh-la JAW-paw), a 6-11 center from Belgrade, Serbia, joins the Raiders after spending the last two seasons at Colorado State, where he played in 41 games, after beginning his career at Long Island in 2023-24.
"We're excited to welcome Nikola to our program for next season," Sargent said. "He brings size, physicality and valuable experience to our front court. Coming from a strong program with high standards, he adds the mindset and work ethic that will help grow our locker room and contribute to winning."
Djapa averaged just over eight minutes a game for Colorado State the last two seasons, tallying one start in both campaigns, while shooting 68.4 percent overall for the Rams. He scored a Colorado State-best 12 points last December, one of 10 contests he scored in, while also finding the scoring column 13 times in 2024-25. Djapa grabbed multiple rebounds in 11 of 19 games played last season, including a four-rebound effort in 10 minutes against UNLV in January.
Djapa played at Long Island for the 2023-24 campaign, appearing in 29 games while averaging 6.1 points per game with a 5.6 rebounds per game average. He recorded two double-doubles, scoring 15 points with 10 rebounds against UMass Lowell and adding a 12-point, 15-rebound effort against Wagner, while his career-high 19 points came on a 7-of-8 shooting effort against Fairleigh Dickinson in February 2024.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Djapa has also played for the Serbian national team and was a two-time Junior Adriatic League champion. His father, Ilija, played professional basketball in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
Djapa becomes the seventh addition to the Wright State roster, joining fellow transfers C.J. O'Hara, Sam Johnson and Chadlyn Traylor, along with high school signees Terrence Hayes Jr., Noah Lewis and Tahj Martin.
