After struggling in the first half, the offense came alive in the second as the Wright State men's basketball team defeated Jackson State 56-39 Wednesday night at WSU's Nutter Center.

Both teams found the scoring hard to come by in the opening 20 minutes as Cole Darling's layup at the 11:07 mark made it a 3-2 Jackson State lead.  The Tigers maintained a slight edge for most of the rest of the period until jumpers by Kendall Griffin and Reggie Arceneaux in the final minute gave the Raiders a 17-14 halftime advantage.

After hitting just one of its first 18 shots, Wright State made six of its final eight in the first half to shoot 27 percent while Jackson State was three of 17 for 18 percent.

WSU then started the second half with a 20-8 run, nine of those coming on three three-pointers by Arceneaux, to go up 37-22 with nine minutes to play.  The Tigers would get no closer than eight the rest of the way as the Raiders closed the game with an 11-2 burst over the final two minutes.

Wright State shot 36 percent in the second half to finish at 31 percent overall while Jackson State was at 26 percent.  WSU went 18 of 26 at the foul line compared to 15 of 21 for the Tigers and led 13-3 in points off of turnovers as the Raiders forced 21 while committing 13.

Arceneaux led Wright State with 15 points, 11 coming in the second half, while Armond Battle had 10, all after halftime.  Darling had nine points and nine rebounds in his first action of the year and John Balwigaire chipped in nine off the bench.

Jenirro Bush paced Jackson State (0-3) with 15 points, but no other Tiger had more than five.

Wright State (2-1), now 1-1 in the Global Sports Shootout, wraps up tournament play with a pair of games in the Sunshine State next week.  On Monday, November 21, WSU faces Florida in a 7:00 matchup at the St. Pete Times Forum, a game that can be seen live on Fox Sports Florida.  The Raiders then head to Jacksonville to take on North Florida on Wednesday, November 23, also at 7:00.
