Baseball Drops 5-4 Decision to Youngstown State

The Wright State baseball team scored four runs in the opening two innings, but didn't score the rest of the way as Youngstown State recorded a 5-4 win in the Horizon League Tournament in Chicago, ending WSU's season.
The Raiders opened the scoring with three in the first. Jake Hibberd led off with a hit to left center and after Corey Davis hit into a fielder's choice, Tristan Moore reached on catcher's interference to put runner on first and second. Garrett Gray had a hit through the left side to plate Davis and following a Ryan Ashe sacrifice, Zach Tanner delivered a two-run double to right center to drive in Moore and Gray and make it 3-0.
The margin grew to 4-0 an inning later as Hibberd lined a home run to left, his ninth of the season. That hit, which turned out to be the final of his career, tied Hibberd with Chris Tuttle (2000-03) for the most career hits in Wright State history with 302 and tied him for seventh on the all-time home run list at 24 with Lance Links (2001-02).
From there, however, the Raiders were shut out by YSU starter Blake Aquadro, who scattered six hits the rest of the way and pitched out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the fifth with a strikeout and a double play.
The Penguins scored three in the third and one in the fifth to tie the game and tallied the game-winning run in the sixth.
WSU had one last chance in the ninth as Davis doubled to left center with two outs, but Moore grounded out to end the game.
Along with Hibberd, Gray, Ashe and Tanner each had two hits for Wright State, which ends its season at 37-21.
