The Wright State baseball team completed a 4-0 Horizon League road weekend Sunday with a sweep at Northern Kentucky, taking the first game 5-2 and the second 13-3.

WSU scored an unearned run in the fourth inning of the opener as Mitch Roman reached on an error and came in on a Ryan Fucci double and then made it 2-0 in the fifth as Peyton Burdick led off with his third home run of the season to left.

NKU cut the deficit to 2-1 with a run in the sixth, only to see the Raiders answer with a run in the seventh on a Roman RBI single and another in the eighth as Fucci scored on a wild pitch. Wright State rounded out its scoring in the ninth on another Roman RBI hit.

Freshman Caleb Sampen (6-1) pitched the first complete game of his collegiate career, limiting the Norse to six singles while striking out four. At the plate, John Brodner was four-for-four with a run scored while Roman had two hits and two RBI and Fucci and Burdick each had two hits.

The Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 early lead in the second game as Fucci singled in a run in the first and Matt Morrow tripled in Sean Murphy as part of a two-run second.

Northern Kentucky tallied a run in the third, but WSU broke the game open by scoring nine runs over the middle three innings. A two-run home run by Gabe Snyder, his fifth of the year, highlighted a three-run fourth and the Raiders added five more in the fifth and one in the sixth.

A Morrow RBI double rounded out Wright State's scoring in the seventh.

Trevor Swaney (6-1) struck out three in five innings in picking up the win while offensively, Snyder was four-for-four with three runs scored and two RBI, Morrow had three hits and three RBI, Brodner two hits and three runs scored, Murphy two hits and two runs scored and Fucci two hits.

Wright State (28-12, 12-3 Horizon) is off until hosting Oakland in a three-game league series next weekend at Nischwitz Stadium, with the opener set for Friday, April 29, at 6:30.
