Men's Soccer Explodes for 4-0 Win Over UIC

The Wright State men's soccer team exploded for four goals over a 6:42 span in the first half and went on to a 4-0 Horizon League decision over UIC Saturday night at Alumni Field.

The two teams were scoreless for the first 20 minutes until senior midfielder Zach Zwiesler gave WSU a 1-0 lead with his second goal of the season at the 20:18 mark on an assist by sophomore midfielder Jackson Dietrich, his fourth of the year.

Senior forward Eric Lynch connected on a long shot at the 25:04 mark for his second goal of the year with senior defender Jake Stovall picking up the assist.  Stovall was then credited with his second assist of the match and of the season as senior forward Peguy Ngatcha made it 3-0 with a goal at the 26:37 mark.

It took just 23 seconds for Ngatcha to strike again as he tallied his second goal of the contest and sixth of the year to round out the scoring.  Zwiesler posted his second assist of the year on the goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Joel Sundell, making just his second career start, recorded his first career shutout, posting three saves in the process.

The Raiders finished with a 15-8 shot advantage, including 7-3 on shots on goal.

Wright State (4-3, 1-1 Horizon) hosts Eastern Illinois on Wednesday, September 21, at 7:00 at Alumni Field.
