The Wright State men's basketball team fell at Loyola 84-80 to open the 2017-18 season.

Grant Benzinger returned to the team after missing the entire preseason due to surgery and looked like he didn't miss a beat with a team-high nine points from three threes. Freshman
Everett Winchester came off the bench to make his debut and picked up nine points as well.Â
Justin Mitchell and
Mark Hughes each pitched in seven points. The Raiders shot 50% (14-28) from the field, hitting six three pointers. Mitchell added three assists and four steals.
Second Half Highlights
The team each scored 39 points in the final 20 minutes as Hughes hit two huge threes to draw the Raiders within two points late. Four Raiders ended in double-digit scoring, led by Benzinger with 16, Hughes and Winchester with 15 each and Mitchell with 13 points. Mitchell added eight boards, four assists and five steals. WSU shot 48.1% from the field and hit nine three pointers. There were nine ties and ten lead changes in the game as LU outrebounded WSU 32-28.
