Women's Basketball Wins Season Opener

The Wright State women's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a 106-52 win at Northwestern Ohio Friday night.
First Quarter Highlights
The Raiders took the lead early on the Jalise Beck layup to make it 2-0 as she added a free throw later to end the quarter with three points. Breaunna Lloyd led the way with six points from two three pointers. Chelsea Welch also add a field goal and a free throw in the first 10 minutes to make the score 16-12 at the buzzer. WSU shot 29.4% while UNOH shot 35.7% and outrebounded WSU 11-10.
Second Quarter Highlights
Wright State outscored the Racers 34-9 in the second quarter to take a 50-21 lead into the locker room at halftime. Welch led the Raiders and now has 11 points and four boards at half. Kiana Adderton, Emily Vogelpohl, Mackenzie Taylor and Lloyd each had eight points while Vogelpohl grabbed four rebounds in the first 20. The Raiders host 40% overall to 30.4% for UNOH. WSU held the boards 23-18, connecting on six three and going 12-14 from the line.
Third Quarter Highlights
The strong play continued for the Raiders as they increased the lead to 82-40. Welch has 20 points while Taylor had 15 points on five threes overall. Vogelpohl has 12 points with a team-high six rebounds. Wright State leads the boards 36-22 while shooting 45% from the field.
Fourth Quarter Highlights
The ended 106-52 as WSU was led by Welch's 25 points and eight rebounds. Taylor finished with 20 points, tying her career-high six threes. Lloyd had a successful debut with 19 points while fellow freshman Adderton had 14 points and eight rebounds. Vogelpohl collected 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The Raiders shot 45.7% from the field and outrebounded the Racers 53-30.
