Wright State
Wright State, with wins over Northwestern Ohio and Eastern Illinois, have been led preseason Player of the Year pick Chelsea Welch at 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Five other Raiders average double figures, led by Mackenzie Taylor's 15.5 per game. The Raiders were picked to finish second in the Horizon League as senior Lexi Smith was also tabbed as a second-team player.
Missouri
Missouri, 1-1 with a loss to Western Kentucky and a win over Quinnipiac, was selected to finish third in the Southeastern Conference in a vote of the league's coaches. Mizzou was also tabbed to place third in the SEC in the preseason media poll on Oct. 16 and trailed only the two teams that reached the 2017 National Championship game, South Carolina and Mississippi State, in the Coaches Poll. Third was the Tigers' highest predicted finish since joining the SEC. Mizzou is ranked No. 16 nationally in the USA Today Coaches Preseason Top 25. That is the highest Mizzou has ever been ranked in the Coaches Poll specifically. A trio of Tigers, junior Sophie Cunningham, junior Cierra Porter and redshirt senior Jordan Frericks earned Preseason All-SEC recognition from the league's coaches.
Up Next
The Raiders will play in the Savannah Invitational next week against Stetson, Providence and Richmond Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
