The Wright State women's basketball team defeated Richmond Thursday in the final day of the Savannah Invitational 85-69.
First Quarter Highlights
The Raiders scored 22 first quarter points while holding the Spiders to 14 points.Â
Emily Vogelpohl scored eight points as
Chelsea Welch added six and
Lexi Smith posted four points and four rebounds. As a team, WSU shot 8-22 while Richmond was 5-21.
Second Quarter Highlights
At halftime, Wright State was up 45-21 with Vogelpohl still leading with 13 points and six rebounds.Â
Symone Simmons grabbed 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes while Smith had nine points and six rebounds. The Raiders rules the boards 33-26 overall after shooting 47% in the second period.
Third Quarter Highlights
WSU led 65-51 as Vogelpohl had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Raiders after three periods. Others in double figures included Welch with 11 and Taylor with 10 as Simmons posted 12 boards.
Fourth Quarter Highlights
The Raiders continued strong offense and defense to win 85-69 as Vogelpohl ended with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds as Welch had 17 points/six assists and Taylor 16 points. Smith added 13 points and nine boards as Simmons nabbed 15 rebounds. WSU shot 45% from the field, hitting six threes and winning the rebounds 52-39.
Welch was named to the all-tournament team.
