Women's Basketball Hosts Twice

The Wright State women's basketball team comes home to host Tennessee Tech Friday night at 7 pm and Chicago State Sunday at 2 pm.
Wright State
The Raiders, 4-2, won two of three games at the Savannah Invitational last week, defeating Stetson and Richmond and falling narrowly to Providence. WSU has four players in double-figure scoring averages, led by senior Chelsea Welch at 22.5. Taylor Mackenzie (12.8), Emily Vogelpohl (11.2) and Lexi Smith (10.0) are also averaging double figures while Vogelpohl (8.2) and Symone Simmons (8.4) lead the squad in rebounding.
Welch was named to the Savannah Invitational All-Tournament Team as she had 18 points and eight rebounds against Stetson, 24 points against Providence and 17 points against Richmond.
Tennessee Tech
The Raiders opened last season with a win over Tennessee Tech on the road as WSU head coach Katrina Merriweather picked up her first win as a head coach. The Eagles, 1-4, have lost four straight with three of those on the road. Yaktavia Hudson leads the Golden Eagles with 9.0 and 5.4 averages per game. Jordan Brock is averaging 8.8 points per game.
Tennessee Tech was picked to finish seventh in the preseason Ohio Valley Conference poll and Hudson was chosen to the preseason team. On November 14, Kesha Brady was selected the OVC Freshman of the Week when she scored 21 points in the season opener.
Chicago State
The Cougars are 0-7 with a game scheduled against Loyola Friday night before CSU travels to Dayton. Ines Mata Boix leads Chicago State with averages of 12.4 points and 9.6 rebounds. Tyeshia Bowers has averaged 10.4 points while Phylicia Johnson sits at 10.5 points per game. The Cougars were picked to finish last in the Western Athletic Conference.
