The Wright State women's basketball team defeated Chicago State Sunday afternoon 84-39.
Game Breakdown
1st Quarter (14-10)
   *Junior
Symone Simmons scored the first two baskets for the Raiders after the WSU gave up a CSU three to start the game.
   *WSU used a 12-1 run to make the score 12-4.
   *Simmons had six points and two rebounds.
   *The Raiders also got two points each from
Chelsea Welch,
Dasia Evans,
Emily Vogelpohl and
Breaunna Lloyd.
   *WSU shot 50% from the field while holding the Cougars to 33%.
2nd Quarter (41-12)
   *Wright State the period with a 20-0 run until the Cougars scored with just over three minutes remaining.
   *WSU then had a 7-0 run to end the half.
   *Spread out scoring had Simmons and Vogelpohl leading the way with eight points each as Welch had seven.Â
Lexi Smith and
Mackenzie Taylor each finished the half with six points each.
   *WSU shot 53% for the half while CSU shot 24%.
   *Chicago State hit the only three for the first half, which started the game.
3rd Quarter (67-19)
   *Wright State outscored Chicago State 26-7 in the third period.
   *Welch led scorer after three with 13 points and Simmons had 12 as the Raiders spread out the scoring.
   *WSU hit 12 of 16 in the third quarter as Taylor and
Kiana Adderton each had a three.
4th Quarter (84-39)
   *Chicago State outscored the Raiders 20-17 in the final quarter as WSU cleared the bench.
   *Four Raiders scored in double figures for the game, led by Simmons with 16 points and Taylor with 14. Welch added 13 and Vogelpohl pitched in 10.Â
   *Smith grabbed a game-high nine rebounds in 16 minutes.
   *WSU outscored CSU 46-14 in the paint, 39-7 off turnovers, 21-4 on second chance points and 25-15 off the bench.
Key Numbers
   *CSU's 39 points were the fewest given up by the Raiders since Marian scored 37 points on November 24, 2013.
