The Wright State baseball team split a Horizon League twinbill at Valparaiso Sunday afternoon, taking the opener 3-1 before falling 9-0 in the second game.
Gabe Snyder provided all of the offense for the Raiders in game one with a pair of home runs. In the first inning, following a Matt Morrow single to left, Snyder connected on a two-run homer to right. Snyder then hit a solo shot to right in the eighth, his seventh of the season, to provide WSU with the final margin.
Zane Collins (6-3) pitched seven innings to earn the win, holding the Crusaders to just three hits, two walks and a run while striking out two. Mark Meyer picked up his first save by going the final two innings, retiring all six batters he faced with one strikeout.
Morrow and Snyder each had two hits for Wright State in the opener.
In the second game, Valparaiso took control early with six runs in the first and went on to the win. Morrow had three hits in that contest to finish with five altogether in the doubleheader.
Wright State (27-12, 13-3 Horizon) travel to Northern Kentucky for a three-game league series next weekend, starting with a single game on Friday, April 28, at 3:00.
