The Wright State baseball team saw an 8-6 lead slip away in the ninth, only to rally for three runs in the 10th to defeat Youngstown State 11-8 in Horizon League action Saturday in Niles, Ohio.

It took just three batters for WSU to take a 3-0 lead in the first as after Matt Morrow and JD Orr, Adrian Marquez drove a 1-1 pitch over the fence in right for a three-run home run, his fifth of the season.

The Raiders added two more runs in the second on a Zach Weatherford RBI single and a Morrow sacrifice fly, but YSU tied the game at 5-5 with five runs in the bottom of the third.

Back came Wright State with three runs in the fourth on a two-run double by Morrow and an Orr ground out, but after the Penguins scored a run in their half of the fourth, neither team scored until the ninth.  Jason Foster came on in relief in the fifth for WSU and retired all 12 batters he faced over four innings, striking out three in the process.

Youngstown State, though, came alive to score two in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.

In the 10th, it was the Raider offense that responded, scoring three runs.  A Gabe Snyder double and Seth Gray triple produced the first run and pinch-hitter Cory Heffron singled in Gray to make it 10-8.  Two more singles from Weatherford and Brandon Giltrow resulted in the final run.

Derek Hendrixson (1-0) retired the Penguins in order in the bottom of the 10th to secure the win.

Offensively, Morrow had two hits, three RBI and scored twice while Weatherford had two hits and two runs scored and Giltrow also had two hits.

Wright State (20-7, 10-0 Horizon) wraps up the series with a doubleheader Sunday starting at noon.
