The Wright State volleyball team fell 3-0 to the host Long Beach State at the LBSU Biden Invitational Friday night by scores of 25-27, 18-25 and 15-25.
First Set Highlights
The Raiders jumped to a quick 3-0 start, but Long Beach came back as the score remained tight until the end. WSU led 21-19 and had a chance to win as they were up 25-24. There were 13 ties and five lead changes in the initial set as Wright State posted 14 kills.
Second Set Highlights
Wright State started with 1-0 lead but the score again see-sawed until LBSU ran off eight of the final 11 points to seal the win. WSU had nine kills in the set.
Third Set Highlights
LBSU (2-0) jumped to an early 5-0 lead in the third set, but the Raiders closed the gap to 9-8. Wright State had nine kills again.Â
Teddie Sauer ended the match with a team-best nine kills while
Katie Klusman and
Abby Barcus each had eight kills and two block assists.Â
Maddie Lohmeier finished with 28 assists and 11 digs while
Jessie Thornton had 12 digs. WSU had 51 digs overall.
Next Up
The Raiders (0-2) will play defending national champion Stanford Saturday at 7 pm eastern. Stanford currently is ranked number two in the country.
