Raiders Host Penguins on MLK Day

WSU has won four straight.
The Wright State women's basketball team will host Horizon League foe Youngstown State Monday at 1:30 pm for a MLK Day event. The game will be shown live on ESPN3. The WSU men's team will also Youngstown State at 4 pm.
The Raiders, 13-4 and 4-1, have won four straight and hold a 5-1 record at home. WSU is coming off an 84-81 overtime win at Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon. Senior Chelsea Welch led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists as Lexi Smith ended with 15 points, and Symone Simmons grabbed 10 boards.
Welch, who has scored 999 points in her two years at Wright State, leads the team and league in scoring with a scoring average of 21.6. She has averaged 19.6 points over her 51 games as a Raider.
Wright State leads the overall series with YSU 32-25 with WSU winning the last four meetings.

- YSU has lost three straight to IUPUI, Green Bay and Milwaukee.
- Milwaukee beat the Penguins Saturday afternoon 62-61 in Milwaukee on a buzzer beater.
- Sarah Cash leads YSU with a scoring average of 11.9.
- Cash had 28 points at Milwaukee.
- The Penguins were picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll.
- The Raiders will play at YSU January 27.
- The Raiders host UIC Friday at 7 pm and IUPUI Sunday at 2 pm.
- UIC currently holds a 7-9, 0-5 record with a game against Milwaukee Monday before coming to Dayton.
- IUPUI, currently in first place, is 13-3, 5-0 and host #24 Green Bay Monday.
