5-1 Raiders Host UIC and IUPUI

The Wright State women's basketball, 14-4 and 5-1, look forward to hosting UIC Friday at 7 pm and co-league leaders IUPUI Sunday at 2 pm. The games can be seen live on ESPN3.
The Raiders are riding a five-game winning streak after defeating Youngstown State at home Monday afternoon 73-50. Wright State was in control, leading the game for more than 37 minutes. Senior Chelsea Welch, who scored her 1,000th point at Wright State early in the contest, led the way with 23 points as Emily Vogelpohl had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds as did Lexi Smith with 10 points and 11 boards. Symone Simmons added 10 points.
Welch leads the team and the Horizon League at 21.7 points per game while Mackenzie Taylor, Vogelpohl and Smith average just under 11 points per game. Simmons leads the team in rebounding and ranks second in the league with an 8.3 average.

- The Raider offense leads the Horizon League at 77.6 and their defense is fourth at 60.2 points per game given up.
- Welch also leads the league in assists per game at 4.9.
- Wright State leads the Horizon League in rebounding, more than two rebounds better than the second place team.
- The Raiders will play at IUPUI and UIC to end the regular season.
- The Flames are 7-10, 0-6 and have lost seven straight.
- Brittany Byrd leads UIC and ranks fourth in league scoring at 15.5 points per game.
- Gabryelle Johnson is sixth in league rebounding at 7.4.
- Wright State leads the overall series 31-28.
- The Jags are currently tied for first with Green Bay and Wright State. IUPUI plays at Northern Kentucky Friday night.
- They are 13-4 and 5-1, coming off a loss at home to Green Bay Monday 60-34.

- The Raiders will go on the road for games at Cleveland State next Thursday and at Youngstown State next Saturday.
