Women's Basketball on Three-Game Win Streak Travel to Northern Kentucky

The Wright State women's basketball team will ride a three-game winning streak into Northern Kentucky Saturday at 1 pm.  The game will be shown live on ESPN3.
The Raiders are currently 12-4 and 3-1 in league play after sweeping a pair of games in Michigan last weekend, winning at Oakland 77-57 and at Detroit Mercy 88-60. Senior Chelsea Welch led the way in both games with 23 points and five assists against the Titans and 29 points, nine rebounds and five assists against the Grizzlies. Symone Simmons added two double-doubles with 10 points and 10 boards at OU and 12 and 12 at UDM. Another highlight at Oakland was Emily Volgelpohl's 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Welch, who has six straight 20-plus scoring games, leads the team and the league with a 21.9 points per game average while Mackenzie Taylor averages 10.8 and Vogelpohl is at 10.5 and 7.1 rebounds. Simmons, who ranks second in the league, averages 8.3 rebounds to lead the Raiders. Welch needs 18 points for 1,000 here at Wright State.
Northern Kentucky leads the overall series 12-6 but Wright State has won the last five meetings, including four straight since the Norse joined the Horizon League. NKU visits the Wright State Nutter Center February 17.

The Raiders come home to host Youngstown State Monday at 1:30 pm. The game will be shown on ESPN3.
