The 19th ranked Wright State men's soccer team returns to action this week with two matches, a home test against non-conference foe West Virginia on Tuesday, and a road contest at Horizon League counterpart Oakland Saturday afternoon.
Raider Round-Up
Wright State (8-1-2, 3-0-1 Horizon League) will enter Tuesday evening's match at Alumni Field after receiving their first loss of the season last Tuesday to #6 Virginia on the road in a hard-fought contest, and then rebounding to earn a draw at home Saturday against co-first-place holders UIC. The Raiders entered last Tuesday's match on a six-match winning streak, including three straight Horizon League victories. Alec Philippe (nine goals, 22 points) continues to lead the green and gold on the attacking end, while Jackson Dietrich (nine assists) has emerged as the primary playmaker in the Raider offense.
Rankings Wrap-Up
After the loss and draw against two of the better teams in the country, the Raiders fell a couple spots in the Top Drawer Soccer national rankings to number 19, and fell just one spot in the United Soccer Coaches Poll to number 23. The Raiders continue their best start to a season in program history, and continue to hold the highest ranking in any sport in Wright State history. With a few tough tests remaining, the Raiders are poised to post the best record in program history, and put themselves in prime position come tournament time.
Scouting West Virginia
The Mountaineers (8-4, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) head to Alumni Field Tuesday night playing their best soccer of the season, winners of three straight matches. Marlon LeBlanc's team in his 13th year at the helm is led offensively by Ryan Kellogg (four goals, nine points). An enormous reason for the Mountaineers success to this point in the season has been sophomore goalkeeper Steven Tekesky, who boasts a sparkling .828 save percentage and a .84 goals against average.
Scouting Oakland
The Golden Grizzlies (6-4-2, 2-2 Horizon League) will host the Raiders on Tuesday after traveling to in-state rival Western Michigan on Tuesday. Oakland, losers of two of their last three, struggles on the defensive side of the field, averaging almost two goals allowed per match. They are led offensively by Nebojsa Popovic (five goals, 16 points), and Sullivan Lauderdale mans the net for the Golden Grizzlies, posting a .735 save percentage and a 1.42 goals against average in 12 starts.

Both Tuesday and Saturday's matches will be carried live on ESPN+, and live stats are available through wsuraiders.com.
