Snyder leads @WSUBaseball to DH Sweep and a Record

The Wright State baseball team broke out with an 18-4 win in game one against Youngstown State while senior Gabe Snyder etched his name in the WSU record book.  In game two, the Raiders topped the Penguins 3-2.

20366Snyder used a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to become Wright State's all-time career RBI leader.  The home run gave him 184 RBI over his four-year career.  The previous record was set by Alfredo Batista (1983-86).  The round tripper also put him closer to the all-time career record for that category as well.  With a long ball in the bottom of third, he needs just one home run to tie the all-time career record set by Bryan Vickers (2002-05).

20368"I want to congratulate Gabe for his great accomplishment," Batista said.  "I am proud of you.  Keep up the great work, Mr. RBI.  I hope you can get 100 more.  Go Raiders!"

In the first game, Snyder had six RBI on two home runs and a double as JD Orr picked up three RBI on a pair of doubles.  Peyton Burdick, Zane Harris and Brandon Giltrow each added two RBI.  Ryan Weiss was the winning pitcher as he collected eight strikeouts in seven innings, allowing just one earned run.

The 18 runs were the most scored by a Raider team since 19 runs were scored at Youngstown State on April 24, 2015.

In the second game, the score was knotted at two each until the Raiders got a sacrifice fly from Zane Harris to score JD Orr.  Matt Morrow had a double, a single and two runs as Orr, Burdick, Snyder and Chase Slone each had hits.  Jeremy Randolph got the win in relief as he struck out five in the seventh and eighth innings and Derek Hendrixson nailed down his seventh save and 16th over the last two seasons.

Wright State is now 21-12 and 10-4.  The Raiders have won at least 20 games now each year since 2001.  WSU will play the final game of the series Saturday at 2 pm.
