Snyder Leads @WSUBaseball to Series Win at UIC

Senior Gabe Snyder hit his seventh homerun in the last 11 games as the Wright State baseball team took its second straight with a 2-0 decision at UIC Sunday afternoon.

Snyder, who also hit a homerun on Saturday, now ranks third all time for round trippers at WSU.  Quincy Hamilton accounted for the second run of the game as he hit a sacrifice fly to score Matt Morrow.  Chase Slone collected two hits as JD Orr and Zane Harris each had singles.  Peyton Burdick doubled.

Zane Harris pitched 5.1 innings with five strikeouts for his third win of the season.  Jeremy Randolph pitched the next 1.2 innings to hold the Flames with two strikeouts as Derek Hendrixson threw the final two frames for his fifth save of the season, including a game-ending double play.

"Our pitching staff was terrific again today as they were all weekend, I can't compliment them enough," WSU head coach Jeff Mercer said.  "We played great defense all weekend.  Chase Slone made a special play to start the double play that ended the game today. Winning at UIC is always a difficult task, they really pitch and defend well, we did just enough to take the series."

The Raiders, 18-11 and 8-4, will play in the Joe Nuxhall Tournament in Oxford where they will play Cincinnati Tuesday at 3 pm.  Miami and Xavier will play at 6 pm.  Wednesday's game 3 and 6 pm, with host Miami set for the final contest.
