In front of 1,837 fans and after a two-hour rain delay, the Wright State baseball team took care of business by defeating Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky 12-0 Thursday night at Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton.  It was the second shutout of the season for the Raiders.

Alex Alders scored the first two runs of the game off a Zach Weatherford triple in the second and a Seth Gray single in the fourth.  Chase Slone, Matt Morrow and Gray crossed the plate later in the fourth after the Norse committed two errors. In the seventh, JD Orr walked, stole second and scored on a Gabe Snyder single.  Snyder scored on an infield out by Slone later in the seventh.  The Raiders' eighth saw them score five more times as Peyton Burdick drove in two followed by a Quincy Hamilton RBI and a Slone double to plate two more.  Gray accounted for three of the nine Raider hits.  Wright State picked up four stolen bases as well, including two by Orr.

Starting pitcher Ryan Weiss threw five innings, giving up just four hits and striking out five of the 18 NKU batters he faced.  He is now 9-2 on the season.  The Raiders received scoreless efforts from Daniel Kreuzer in the sixth, Mitch Gremling in the seventh and eighth and Bear Bellomy in the ninth.

Wright State is now 34-15 and 20-6 after clinching the Horizon League regular-season title last weekend.  The teams will meet Friday at Nischwitz Stadium.  Game time is 5 pm.  WSU will end the regular season against the Norse Saturday at 2 pm with Senior Day festivities starting at 1:30 pm.  The Raiders will host the Horizon League Championship May 23-26 at Nischwitz Stadium.
