Smith Honored by League

Malachi Smith, a 6-3 guard for the Wright State men's basketball team, has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, league officials announced today.

In the two Raider road wins over the weekend, the Belleville, IL native averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as he had his career-best 17 points and nine boards at YSU. He shot 50% from the field at 8-16 and 100% at 8-8 from the line. He added three assists, three steals and a block. It was the second time this season that a WSU player received this honor as Skyelar Potter was named the Freshman of the Week on November 19.

The Raiders, 10-10 and 4-3, return home next week with a pair of games - January 24 versus Milwaukee and January 26 against Green Bay. The 26th is Military Appreciation Night.
