The Wright State women's basketball team will host Detroit Mercy for the second game of their four game homestand. Tipoff in the Nutter Center is slated for 2:00pm on Sunday, January 27th.
Wright State
The Wright State women's basketball team (15-5, 7-1) started off their homestand with a 69-58 win on Friday night against the Oakland Grizzlies. In Friday night's game against the Grizzlies, Emily Vogelpohl led all players with 19 points and shot 3/8 from deep. Symone Simmons hauled in 16 rebounds against the Grizzlies and now stands just five short of tying Wright State's all-time rebound record.
On the season, the Raiders are led on offense by three players who are averaging in double-digits, Michal Miller (13.5ppg), Mackenzie Taylor (12.4ppg), and Angel Baker (10.0ppg). Symone Simmons leads the Raiders in rebounds with 173 in total, an 8.7 average. Simmons is currently second in the Horizon league in total rebounds, just one behind the leader.
Detroit Mercy
The Detroit Mercy Titans (3-16, 1-7) are coming off a 56-68 loss to the Northern Kentucky Norse on Friday afternoon. In the first of their four game road swing, the Titans were led by senior guard Brittney Jackson who netted 20 points in the loss. Junior wing Zoey Oatis added 12 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks, freshman guard Jess Bicknell added nine points and freshman forward Paige Bellman recorded eight points, three blocks and three steals against the Norse.
The Titans have two players averaging double-digits on the season, led by Lexey Tobel (11.4ppg) and Brittany Jackson (10.1ppg). Tobel is also the team's second leading rebounder (4.9rpg), while Ashley Miller hauls in an average of 5.2 rebounds per game.
