The Wright State men's basketball team will take its four-game winning streak to Chicago where they will take on UIC Friday night in a nationally-televised game on ESPNU at 9:00 PM eastern.
Wright State
The Raiders, 12-10 and 6-3, are riding a four-game winning streak after winning two homes games last weekend against Milwaukee and Green Bay. After this road trip to UIC and IUPUI, Wright State will play five straight at home before ending the regular season at Green Bay and Milwaukee.Â
Sophomore center Loudon Love has played his best basketball recently, being named the Horizon League Player of the Week last Monday when he averaged 19.5 points and 10 rebounds on the homestand. He shot 61% overall from the field as he grabbed his 500th career rebound. Last week in Cleveland, he collected his season-best 23 points against the Vikings. Junior Bill Wampler had a rebound game against the Phoenix as he had 21 points in 27 minutes after being shutout versus the Panthers. Junior point guard Cole Gentry hit his 39th straight free throw Saturday night, needing just eight to tie the school mark held by Jesse Deister.
For the season, Love sit on top of the WSU roster with 15.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Those figures ranked tenth and third among Horizon League players. Also in double digits for the Raiders, Wampler holds a 14.7 average and Gentry is at 13.3 points per game. The Wright State freshmen Malachi Smith and Skyelar Potter have caught fire at the right time as well with the pair accounting for 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists against Green Bay in 42 minutes.
The Raiders lead 31-28 in the overall series with WSU winning five straight until the Flames won at Wright State on December 28 this season 75-72 in overtime to start the Horizon League season. In that game, Gentry led the way for WSU with 24 points and five assists while Love came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds while nursing a his hurt ankle. Mark Hughes and Alan Vest each added 11 points.
UIC
The Flames, 10-12 and 4-5, have dropped three of their last four games, including a home loss to Oakland 80-67 Saturday. Marcus Ottey collected his career high in the loss while UIC went 2-18 from three-point range. Godwin Boahen added 11 points and Michael Diggins had 10 points off the bench.Â
Four UIC players average in double-figure scoring, led by Ottey at 16.1 and Tarkus Ferguson at 14.9 and 6.8 rebounds. Boahen boasts a 14.7 average. The Flames were tabbed to finish third in the preseason poll with Ottey on the first team and Ferguson on the second team.

Wright State stays on the road to play at IUPUI Sunday at 1:00 PM eastern. The Jags host Northern Kentucky Friday night.
