Wright State
The Raiders, 7-9 and 1-2, fell at Detroit Mercy 79-58 Thursday night. Loudon Love led WSU with 15 points as Mark Hughes pitched in 13 points and a team-best six rebounds. Bill Wampler ended with 11 points while four others grabbed five rebounds each. Wright State outscored the Titans in the paint 32-14 and outrebounded UDM 37-33, but continued a trend of poor shooting and turned the ball over 18 times in the contest. Detroit Mercy freshman Antoine Davis exploded for 48 points to lead the Titans.
Wampler tops the Raiders at 14.8 points per game with Cole Gentry at 13.9 and Love at 13.5 and 8.4 rebounds. WSU leads the overall series 11-7, including Raider wins in the last three meetings. Wright State won last year at Oakland in overtime 86-81 and at home 64-51.
Oakland
The Grizzlies, 7-9 and 3-0, have posted wins at Cleveland State 89-77, at Youngstown State 76-74 and at home over Northern Kentucky 76-74 Thursday night. Against NKU, Xavier Hill-Mais scored a career-high 32 points on 11 of 16 shooting, including four from beyond the arc. Hill-Mais recorded his fourth 30-point game this season. Wilmington native Jaevin Cumberland scored 15 points and dished out six assists while Braden Norris added 11 points, seven assists and committed no turnovers in 39 minutes of play.
Hill-Mais holds per game averages of 22.4 points and 6.4 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies while Cumberland sits at 16.4 points. Oakland will test a Raider defense that has struggled defending the three-point shot. They lead the Horizon League in three-pointers per game (10.8) and three-point FG percentage (43.2). Oakland was picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League preseason poll after losing two first team players and a member of the defensive team from last year's squad.  Â
