
Raiders Win Dayton Flyer Invitational to close fall

The Wright State golf team ended the fall with its second team championship as the Raiders won the Dayton Flyer Invitational with a three-round total of 873 to top the 11-team field.

Along with the team title, freshman Mikkel Mathiesen finished in a three-way tie for first individually, falling in a two-hole playoff. Mathiesen finished the tournament at two-over overall after rounds of 74-70-71 to pace the Raiders, while Bryce Haney (72-69-76) finished tied for fifth at four-over and carded Wright State's low round with a 69 in round two Monday afternoon. Austin Schoonmaker carded scores of 73-76-72 to finish at eight-over and tied for 12th overall, while Tyler Goecke (73-74-76/+10) finished tied for 21st and Cole Corder (80-73-76/+16) was tied for 38th to round out the Wright State team scoring.

Wright State's second team title of the fall saw the Raiders finish above three current Horizon League members (Cleveland State, Oakland, Northern Kentucky) and future league member Purdue Fort Wayne, along with finishing 26 shots better than local foe Dayton.

The Raiders conclude the fall with a pair of team titles, a second place finish and a pair of fifth place showings. Wright State's 2020 spring slate begins on February 14 at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor.
