Raiders in the mix after opening round at HL Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL – The Wright State golf team is two shots back and in third-place as a group after the opening round of the 2026 Horizon League Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, with three Raiders inside the Top 15 individually after 18 holes.

Wright State, the two-time defending champions, are one of three teams under par after 18 holes at one-under, one shot behind second-place Green Bay and two back of first round leader Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Raiders will get second round action underway on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m., with the final round set for Monday.

Individually, Shane Ochs is fifth at two-under after his opening round 70, highlighted by a trio of birdies and an eagle on the par five, 540-yard 10th hole, to head into Sunday four shots back of individual leader Nick Holder (-6) from Purdue Fort Wayne. Timmy Hollenbeck carded three birdies of his own for a 71 and is one shot back of Ochs at one-under in seventh, while Ian Asch had an eventful day with six birdies and six bogeys for an even par 72 and is in 13th.

CJ Scohy carded an opening round two-over 74 and is in 18th as he bounced back from three front nine bogeys, while Adam Horn is 35th at five-over after a first round 77 that saw four birdies and a pair of double bogeys.

Wright State's 18 total birdies as a group on Saturday were the most in the field, with the Raiders doing most of their damage on par fives, shooting a collective eight-under on the longer holes, while they were six-over on the day on both par three and par four holes.
