HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL – The Wright State golf team captured its third-straight Horizon League Championship on Monday afternoon at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, with Shane Ochs grabbing the individual title to send the Raiders back to the NCAA Championship.
Wright State, who entered the final round in third-place, found itself at the top of the leaderboard midway though Monday afternoon but finished the 54 holes tied with Oakland, forcing a tiebreaker. All five players for both Wright State and Oakland replayed the 18th hole, with all scores counting. Oakland carded two pars and three bogeys, while the Raiders got birdies from Ian Asch and Adam Horn, a par from Timmy Hollenbeck and bogeys from CJ Scohy and Ochs to capture the team title.
Ochs opened Monday tied for first individually and carded a final round two-under 70 with four birdies and just two early bogeys, tapping in for par on the 18th to capture Wright State's 10th individual title, which was already the most in Horizon League history.
The team title is the Raiders' 10th Horizon League championship, tying them for the most in HL history with Cleveland State.
Behind Ochs, three other Raiders finished inside the Top 15 – Hollenbeck was fifth, with Asch and Scohy tied for 14th. Hollenbeck was one-under in his final round for a 71 with five birdies as he navigated a front nine double bogey to finish the championship at three-over. Asch opened the afternoon with an eagle on the par five first hole, but battled through six bogeys to end Monday with a six-over 78 to finish the championship seven-over overall. Scohy also finished at seven-over for the 54 holes, carding an even par final round 72 with three birdies and three bogeys. Horn rounded out the lineup, finishing 36th overall at 15-over for the championship with a five-over final round 77, but he delivered that birdie in the tiebreaker to help get the Raiders to the title again.
The 2026 NCAA selection show will be May 6, with the NCAA Regionals taking place May 18-20 at six locations. The NCAA Championships are May 29 through June 3 in Carlsbad, California.
