The Wright State volleyball team made quick work of visiting IUPUI on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the visiting Jaguars to improve to 4-0 in Horizon League play and extend the nation's longest winning streak to 15 games.
Following Friday night's 3-2 comeback win, Saturday's sweep was the Raiders 10
th of the season in 16 total matches.
Teddie Sauer finished with a game-high nine kills and a .304 hitting percentage, while
Celia Powers added seven kills and both
Lainey Stephenson and
Taylor Gibson each tallied six kills. Stephenson passed out a match-high 25 assists, while three Raiders had double digit digs, led by
Jenna Story's 20.
Hannah Colvin and Powers each added 10 digs.
Set 1
The points went back and forth to start the set before the Raiders rolled off three straight points to take a 10-7 lead. Powers collected a pair of kills as Wright State took a 14-11 advantage. The Raiders pushed past the 20-point mark thanks to IUPUI errors before back-to-back kills from Stephenson and Powers gave Wright State the first set 25-20.
Set 2
The Raiders jumped out to a quick advantage before IUPUI tied the set at 6-6. The Raiders responded with a five-point run aided by kills from Gibson and Sauer and a service ace from
Callie Martin to push the lead to 11-6. IUPUI responded to tie the set at 18-18. The teams traded points to get to 21-all before IUPUI had three attack errors and
Nyssa Baker powered down a kill to give the Raiders a 25-21 set win.
Set 3
Wright State started hot and had a 7-1 lead early, extending the advantage to 11-5 on a Sauer kill. Back-to-back kills from
Megan Alders and Sauer pushed the Raiders to 20 points. Sauer connected on a pair of service aces to push Wright State to a 22-12 lead. Stephenson dropped in a kill before IUPUI committed back to back service errors to close the night out and give the Raiders a 25-15 set win.
