Raiders will honor seniors after the game

Two of the hottest teams in the Horizon League will meet Saturday afternoon at the WSU Nutter Center as the Wright State men will host Youngstown State at 3:00 PM. The Raiders have won nine of its last ten games while the Penguins have won six of their last seven contests. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have the call on Big 106.5 FM/iHeart and on ESPN3.

Wright State
The Raiders, 17-11 and 11-4, have won its last five games and nine of the last 10 games, including three straight while scoring 80 or more points. Wright State has outscored its opponents 77.1-67.0 and outrebounded them 34.7-29.7 during this recent 10-game stretch. Loudon Love has averaged 17.0 points, almost two points better than his season average. Over the last three games, the Raiders have averaged over 5,300 fans.

Wright State is coming off an 87-61 win over Cleveland State Thursday night as five Raiders ended in double-figure scoring, led by Wampler at 16 and Parker Ernsthausen's season-high 14 points. Point guard Cole Gentry had a career-high seven rebounds and seven assists with eight points. WSU's defense held the Vikings to just 23 points in the second half while scoring 22 points off the CSU turnovers.

Love and Wampler lead the Raiders at 15.0 and 15.1 points per game with Gentry at 12.4 points. Love holds an 8.3 rebounds per game average while Gentry is closing in on a 100-assist season, needing just three. WSU is now 13-2 at home.

The Raiders lead the overall series 46-12 against Youngstown State as WSU won 80-74 on Jan. 17, and have won four straight matchups. Malachi Smith had a career-high game with 17 points and nine rebounds while Wampler added 17 as well in that game. Youngstown native Mark Hughes ended with 16 points, and Love chipped in 15 points and seven boards. Wright State trailed 45-38 at half but came back strong in the second 20 minutes to outscore YSU 42-29 for the win.

Youngstown State
The Penguins, 12-17 and 8-8, won six straight until falling at NKU Thursday night 76-69. In that game, YSU was up 64-63 with three minutes remaining until the Norse outscored them 13-5 to end the game. Sophomore Naz Bohannon posted a career-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds with four assists. Sophomore Garrett Covington scored 13 points while junior Devin Morgan added 10 points.

Freshman Darius Quisenberry, a native of nearby Springfield, OH and graduate of Wayne High School, top YSU in scoring at 13.2 while hitting 46 threes from three. Covington holds an average of 10.8 while Bohannon grabs 8.5 rebounds a game. As a team, Youngstown State averages 75.8 points, including six games of 90 points or better. YSU is 5-9 in road games this season.

Senior Day
The Raiders will honor its four seniors--Parker Ernsthausen, Mark Hughes, Alan Vest and Adam Giles--after the game Saturday.

Next Up
The Raiders end the regular season with games at Green Bay next Thursday and at Milwaukee next Saturday. The Horizon League Tournament starts March 5/6 as the top four seeds will host quarterfinals games. If WSU hosts, the game will be played on March 5.
