Raiders End Regular Season Saturday at Milwaukee

The Wright State men's basketball team had its six-game winning streak broken with a 70-67 loss at Green Bay Thursday night.  WSU is now 18-12, 12-5 while the Phoenix go to 16-14, 10-7.

The Raiders were led by Loudon Love's 21 points and nine rebounds while Bill Wampler connected on four threes for 18 points.  Freshman Malachi Smith notched 12 points.  The Phoenix outshot the Raiders 43% to 40% as the teams each had 38 rebounds.  The Phoenix forced 15 Raider turnovers.

WSU is now tied for first place with Northern Kentucky after the Norse won at Milwaukee 65-55 Thursday night.  Northern plays at Green Bay Saturday while the Raiders travel to Milwaukee.

First Half
A tight start saw the Raiders up 10-9 by the first media timeout with Alan Vest at six points from two threes.  Over the next four minutes, GB went up 19-14 as Loudon Love also had six points.  WSU cut the lead to one, but the Phoenix jumped back out to a 25-19 lead.  Ernsthausen had a layup while Gentry hit a three.  Once again, WSU cut the lead to two with GB going back up at the final media timeout of the half 35-28.  Green Bay took a 42-37 lead to the locker room.  Love was tops with 10 points and five rebounds as Wampler had 10 points and Vest and Smith at six.  GB outrebounded WSU 20-14 and outshot the Raiders 50% to 47% though Wright State hit five threes.

Second Half

Wampler and Gentry each had early threes to get within two points but GB was up 48-44 at the timeout.  WSU took a timeout at 12:23 down 53-46.  The Raiders kept it close by the eight-minute timeout 57-52 as Love had 17 points and Wampler 13.  On four free throws from Smith, the Raider closed the gap but GB shot back ahead 65-59 by the 3:57 mark.  Wright State made it close but fell 70-67 with a last second shot to tie the game.  Love had 11 points in the final 20 minutes.

Next Up
The Raiders will play at Milwaukee Saturday at 7:00 PM eastern.  The Panthers are currently 9-21, 4-13.  WSU defeated UWM at the Nutter Center 56-54 in January.
