@WSUBaseball Wins to Open LeClair Classic

This weekend, the Wright State baseball team is participating in the LeClair Classic on the campus of East Carolina in Greenville, North Carolina.

The Raiders opened the weekend with a victory over Western Carolina. The win marked one of the best pitching performances for Wright State this season, led by Bear Bellomy. Bellomy completed six innings on the mound, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out three.

2nd Inning
Bellomy started the game strong, retiring the Catamounts in order to begin the first. Wright State then scored the first run of the game. Peyton Burdick took advantage of a throwing error to reach first base, and ended up on third after a Zane Harris single and Seth Gray fielder's choice. Zach Weatherford sent a ground ball towards first for an RBI, scoring Burdick. Western Carolina responded with a run to end the inning.

3rd Inning
Freshman Tyler Black sent a ball back up the middle for a lead-off single, and another Catamount error allowed Black to score. The Raiders took a 2-1 lead, and Bellomy once again rolled through a three-up, three-down inning.

6th Inning
Bellomy continued to dominate the Western Carolina lineup, closing out the sixth inning allowing just a single run in the game. Brandon Giltrow and Damon Dues both singled to begin the sixth, and Peyton Burdick sent a ball over the centerfield fence for a big three-run homer to give Wright State a 5-1 lead.

8th Inning
The Catamounts used a two run homer to pull within two runs of Wright State. Evan Moores took over on the mound in the ninth to close out the victory and record the save. Moores used two fly outs and finished the game with a strikeout.

Wright State moves to 3-3 on the season with Friday's win. Bellomy recorded his first win, and Moores claimed a save for the Raiders. Burdick finished 1 for 3 with three RBI and a home run. The redshirt junior is now batting .316 on the season with 6 RBI. Wright State returns to the LeClair Classic to face host East Carolina, the 9th ranked team in the country, at 4:30 PM on Saturday.
