The UIC Flames (7-9) defeated Wright State to end the Raiders' four-game win streak. Wright State opened the game with a run in the first.
JD Orr took advantage of an early UIC error and ended up on second. After
Peyton Burdick grounded out to put Orr on third,
Zane Collins picked up where he left off in a 4-RBI performance against UNOH and connected on an RBI single. Unfortunately for the Raiders, the offense couldn't add any more scoring. Flames starter Jacob Key dominated the Wright State lineup, recording 26 of the 27 outs and striking out seven in the process. On the other side, UIC tagged
Bear Bellomy for 11 hits in his five innings of work and totaled 13 in the game.
Peyton Burdick,
Zane Harris, and
Tyler Black contributed the three Wright State hits.
Wright State and UIC will complete the series on Saturday with a doubleheader from Curtis Granderson Stadium. The Raiders dropped the opening game in the Milwaukee series last weekend but battled back to win the series. Despite Friday's loss, WSU leads the all-time series against UIC 83-64.
