Baseball Defeats Xavier in Joe Nuxhall Classic Wednesday

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team rounded out action in the Joe Nuxhall Classic on Wednesday as they took on the Xavier Musketeers. The offense came alive early and often in Wednesday's game, and the Raiders got back to their winning ways with a 12-2 triumph over the Musketeers, taking the season series over Xavier 2-1.  The Raiders are now 22-11, 7-5.
 
SCORING
1st Inning – Seth Gray opened up the scoring in Wednesday's game with an RBI single up the middle, giving Wright State an early 1-0 advantage.

3rd Inning – After scoring a run on a throwing error by the Musketeers catcher, Zach Weatherford drove in two more runs with a single to center field, putting the Raiders on top by four.

8th Inning – Wright State surrendered a run in the third inning, and scoring lulled for four straight innings. The Raiders re-opened the scoring in the eighth, as Seth Gray homered for the second straight day, Zane Harris hit a sacrifice fly, and Chase Slone doubled to left field making it a 7-1 game.

9th Inning – Zane Harris hit Wright State's first grand slam of the season in the ninth inning, and JD Orr added a single to put the game out of reach at 12-1. The Musketeers would get one back in the bottom of the inning, but the Raiders would take the game by a score of 12-2.
 
Wright State will return to Nischwitz Stadium this weekend for a three-game Horizon League series against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 PM.  Oakland is currently 8-21, 6-6.
