Baseball Wins Second Straight Over UIC Saturday

Fairborn, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team continued their crucial three-game series against the UIC Flames Saturday afternoon, with the Raiders tied for first in the Horizon League with Milwaukee and leading the Flames by a half game coming into the contest. Bradley Brehmer put in a strong seven innings on the mound, allowing just two runs on six hits. Wright State gained another game in the standings with a convincing victory over UIC, the second in as many days winning 11-3.  WSU is now 31-13, 13-7.
 
SCORING
2nd Inning –
After reaching on a leadoff single and advancing to third on two separate infield ground outs, Seth Gray scored from third on a wild pitch from Flames pitcher Joey Fredrickson.
3rd Inning – JD Orr's double down the left field line brought home Kyle Casserly from first base, and Orr came around to score on an RBI groundout from Tyler Black to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead.
5th Inning – UIC pushed across their first run of the game on a solo home run from Derrick Patrick off the scoreboard, and an RBI ground out from Matt Bottcher brought UIC within one at 3-2. The Raiders responded and then some, as a fielding error allowed JD Orr to score on a Tyler Black double, Peyton Burdick brought home Black with a single, and Seth Gray smashed a two-run home run off the scoreboard to put Wright State up 7-2.
8th Inning – Following a Flames run on a sacrifice fly in the top half of the inning, Quincy Hamilton re-established a five run lead with an RBI single to left field, and Zach Weatherford scored on a wild pitch. With two outs in the inning, Brandon Giltrow singled in the tenth run of the game, and JD Orr drove in his second run, bringing the final score to 11-3. 
 
The Raiders and Flames will round out the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM.
