Baseball Completes Sweep of UIC Sunday

Fairborn, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team rounded out a three game series against the UIC Flames on Sunday at Nischwitz Stadium, and the Raiders brought their record in the month of April to 13-5, completing the three-game weekend sweep of the Flames with a 5-2 victory.  WSU is now 32-13, 14-7.

SCORING
1st Inning – JD Orr opened the scoring for the Raiders in the bottom of the first inning as he came around to score on a wild pitch from starting pitcher Fred Gosbeth, putting the Raiders on top 1-0.
2nd Inning – Brandon Giltrow's RBI groundout with one out in the second doubled the Raiders advantage, scoring Quincy Hamilton from third.
3rd Inning – Back-to-back home runs from Tyler Black and Peyton Burdick, and a third solo shot from Zach Weatherford put the green and gold firmly up 5-0 in the game.
6th Inning – The Flames would bring two runs across the plate in the sixth inning, but starter Zane Collins earned the win with 5 and 2/3 innings pitched and just two runs allowed.

With Sunday's victory, the Raiders have cemented a half game lead in the Horizon League standings over the Milwaukee Panthers, with just three series left to play. The Raiders will not have any mid-week games this week, and will continue their Horizon League schedule on Friday when they head to northeast Ohio to take on the Youngstown State Penguins. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
