@WSUBaseball Defeats Indiana on the Road Wednesday

Bloomington, Indiana – The Wright State baseball team was on the road Wednesday afternoon, as they took on former WSU head coach Jeff Mercer's Indiana Hoosiers in a midweek contest. Wright State's offense continued clicking on all cylinders, as the green and gold claimed a 15-4 victory over Indiana, improving their record to 20-8.

The Raiders have historically posted wins over ranked and Power-5 teams such as winning at #4 South Carolina and #10 Clemson two seasons ago and #8 North Carolina State and Georgia in 2016.  Last season, WSU won at #20 Louisiana 8-2 and 4-3 as well as at Sam Houston State, which was receiving votes, 10-6.  This season alone, Wright State has put together wins at #10 Ole Miss, #19 Oklahoma State, and #9 East Carolina.

SCORING
1st Inning – Three walks and a Zach Weatherford RBI groundout put the Raiders on top early, as Quincy Hamilton came around to give Wright State an early 1-0 lead.

3rd Inning – After the Hoosiers answered with a run in the bottom of the second inning, Wright State jumped back on top as a Seth Gray RBI double and an Alex Alders RBI single re-gained a two-run advantage for the Raiders.

5th Inning – Tyler Black's sacrifice fly advanced Alex Alders to third base, and he came in to score on an Indiana wild pitch, giving the Raiders two runs in the inning and extending their lead to four at 5-1.

7th Inning – After a run scored on a passed ball, Tyler Black launched a no-doubt home run to right-center, his fourth of the season, to put the Raiders on top 7-2.

8th Inning – The Raiders exploded four six runs in the visiting half of the eighth inning after the Hoosiers pulled closer in the seventh with a two-run home run. With six outs left to get, the Raiders were firmly on top at 13-4.

9th Inning – Having been named to the Perfect Game Mid-Season All-American Team earlier in the day, Peyton Burdick capped off the victory for Wright State with a two-run home run in the ninth inning.

The Raiders (20-8, 6-3) will be on the road again this weekend, as they will be in Highland Heights, Kentucky to take on rival Northern Kentucky in a three-game series. Friday's game will start at 3:00 PM, Saturday's game will get underway at 1:00 PM, and a noon start time is scheduled for Sunday.  All three games will be on ESPN+.
