@WSUBaseball Drops Opening Game of NKU Series

Highland Heights, Kentucky – The Wright State baseball team hit the road on Friday to open up a series against the Northern Kentucky Norse. The Raiders opened up an early lead in the game, but a seventh inning rally and a two-run home run in the eighth inning from the Norse proved more than the Raiders could overcome, as Wright State dropped the first game of the series by a final score of 6-3

SCORING
2nd Inning – Zach Weatherford opened the scoring in the second inning of Friday's game, as his RBI double down the left field line scored the first run of the game in the person of Seth Gray.
4th Inning – Following an NKU RBI single in the third inning to tie the game, Alex Alders re-gained the lead for Wright State with a two-run home run to left field, his first of the season.

Norse first baseman Griffin Doersching took the game over after the Raiders took the lead in the fourth inning. He brought the Norse back within one run in the home half of the fourth inning with his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot to left field. Doersching then singled home the tying run in the seventh inning, and the go-ahead run scored on the same play due to a Peyton Burdick error. Norse center fielder Jake Murray put the game out of reach in the eighth inning with a two-run home run, putting Northern Kentucky on top for good at a final score of 6-3.

Wright State (20-9, 6-4) and Northern Kentucky (6-21, 5-5) will continue the three-game series on Saturday at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex, as Zane Collins will toe the rubber for a 1:00 PM first pitch.
