Baseball Drops Second Straight to Northern Kentucky

Highland Heights, Kentucky – The Wright State baseball team continued its road swing on Saturday, as they once again visited the Northern Kentucky Norse for game two of the three game series. Just as they did Friday against the Norse, the Raiders jumped out to an early advantage in Saturday's contest, but would eventually surrender their lead and fall for the second straight day to Northern Kentucky by a final score of 7-6.  The Raiders are 20-10, 6-5.

SCORING
1st Inning – Zane Harris drew a bases loaded walk with two outs in the first inning of the game, bringing home Tyler Black for the first run of the game.

2nd Inning – The Raiders continued their hot start to the game in the second, as a 2 RBI single off the bat of Peyton Burdick and a Zach Weatherford sacrifice fly put Wright State on top 4-0 in only the second inning. Northern Kentucky would not be held down long, however, as the Norse struck for three runs on the home half of the inning to draw back within one run at 4-3.

3rd Inning – Griffin Doersching (2 RBI yesterday) brought the game level for the Norse with a solo shot to center field with one out in the inning.

6th Inning – Head coach Alex Sogard's team responded to adversity well in Saturday's game as it has done all season, and Seth Gray hit his fourth home run of the season to right field to re-establish a 5-4 lead for Wright State. Two RBI singles and an RBI double for Northern Kentucky put the Norse back on top for good at 7-5 in the home half of the sixth.

7th Inning – Peyton Burdick added his third RBI of the game on a single through the left side bringing home Quincy Hamilton, but the Raiders fell short by just one run with a final score of 7-6.

Tomorrow's third and final game of the series against Northern Kentucky has been moved up to an 11:00 AM start due to rain in the forecast Sunday afternoon. The game will be carried on ESPN+, and live stats are available through the team schedule page at wsuraiders.com.
