Baseball Closes Regular Season With Victory Friday

Toledo, Ohio – The RaiderGang rounded out their regular season schedule Friday afternoon in Toledo against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, the last of a three-game set in which the Raiders took the first two games Thursday afternoon. The offense found their stride yet again in game three, and it propelled the Raiders to the victory, their 41st of the regular season.
 
SCORING
1st Inning – Peyton Burdick launched his 11th home run of the season, a three-run shot that ties him with Seth Gray for the team lead for the season.
4th Inning – A two-RBI single from Zach Weatherford, an RBI single from Brandon Giltrow, and an RBI groundout from Chase Slone gave the Raiders a commanding lead at 7-0.
5th Inning – Tyler Black added a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Burdick, and the Raiders had their biggest lead of the game at 8-0.
6th Inning – JD Orr's speed came back to haunt the Golden Grizzlies, just as it has done to opponents all season, as he would steal third and force a throwing error on the play, allowing him to come around and score.
7th Inning – Black would hit his third triple of the weekend, bringing Burdick in to score and making the score 10-2. After a Weatherford sacrifice fly and the Golden Grizzlies adding a run in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch, the final score would come to 11-3 in favor of Wright State.
 
The Raiders are now set to host the Horizon League tournament for the third time in the last four years. The tournament will get underway Wednesday morning at Nischwitz Stadium, and the championship game will be held Saturday afternoon. Stay tuned for a release detailing exactly when the Raiders will play in the tournament next week!
