
Mathiesen leads Raiders at River Run Collegiate

The Wright State golf team finished fifth out of 15 teams at the 2019 River Run Collegiate hosted by Davidson, with freshman Mikkel Mathiesen carding a three-round 219 to pace the Raiders contingent.
Mathiesen carded rounds of 75-71-73 on the way to finishing tied for 12th, while Austin Schoonmaker finished a stroke back at 220 (70-74-76) while carding the low Raider round of the tournament to finish tied for 17th. Tyler Goecke (72-71-79, 222 total) finished tied for 21st, while Bryce Haney carded a 227 total (75-75-77) to finish tied for 39th. Nate Arnold rounded out the Wright State team scoring at 231 (75-81-75, 231 total, T-62).
James Madison was the only team to finish under par over the three rounds on the way to winning the tournament, while Wright State finished 22 strokes better than its Horizon League foe Cleveland State.
The Raiders return to fall action next Monday and Tuesday at the Tom Tontomonia Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State.
