Raiders fight, push past Norse on the road

The Wright State women's basketball team returned to the win column with a 63-55 victory on the road at Northern Kentucky on Friday night.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 10-8 (5-2 in Horizon League), while Northern Kentucky falls to 9-9 overall (3-4 in Horizon League). Wright State now returns home to the Nutter Center for a four-game homestand, the longest of its 2019-2020 campaign thus far, starting on January 23 when Detroit Mercy comes to town.

The Raiders were outscored 17-8 in the second quarter alone and headed into the locker room down six and eventually found themselves down 11. Wright State wasn't done fighting yet, as the Raiders fought back to outscore Northern Kentucky 23-6 in the fourth quarter alone and walk away with a win.

Sophomore Angel Baker had a game-leading 29 points, finishing the contest shooting 11-for-21 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. Jada Roberson, Shamarre Hale and Tyler Frierson each finished with seven points. While Anisja Harris tallied six points of her own.

Wright State shot 44.4 percent for the game, while Northern Kentucky finished the contest shooting just 27.1 percent. The Raiders headed to the line 20 times, converting on just 11 while the Norse had 28 such opportunities and converted 20.  
 
The Raiders outrebounded the Norse 45-34, while NKU recorded a 21-10 edge in points off turnovers. The Raiders finished the contest earning 30 of their 63 points in the paint to the Norse's 24.
