Four different Raiders finished the night with double-digit scoring efforts as Wright State defeated Cleveland State 78-62 inside the Nutter Center on Thursday evening.
With the win, Wright State improves to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in Horizon League play, while Cleveland State falls to 11-3 overall and 1-2 in HL action. For the first time since November, the Raiders will remain at home and welcome Youngstown State on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.
Despite winning the opening tip, the Raiders fell behind the Vikings with just: 26 seconds left in the first quarter 19-17, but the lead was short lived as Wright State fought back and remained in control for the remainder of the contest.
Freshman
Jada Roberson turned in a career high night as she led Wright State with 17 total points. Roberson finished the contest shooting 6-for-12 from the field, 1-for-2 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Alexis Stover added 13 points for the Raiders as she finished the contest shooting 5-for-8 from the field, 1-for-3 from three point range and 2-for-3 from the free throw line. Stover also pulled down four rebounds, recorded one block and a steal.
Angel Baker and
Shamarre Hale both contributed 12 points to the stat line.
Wright State shot 45.6 percent for the game, while Cleveland State converted on just 33.9 percent of their shots. The Raiders converted on just three shots beyond the arc while the Vikings had seven such opportunities. Wright State finished the night shooting 72.2 percent (13-for-18) from the free throw line while Cleveland State connected on 13 of their 15 such opportunities (86.7 percent). Â
The Raiders won the battle on the boards, out rebounding the Vikings 48-37 overall with 20 offensive rebounds and 28 defensive. Cleveland State finished the night with 15 offensive and 22 defensive rebounds.
