Wright State to face Cleveland State Saturday afternoon

The Wright State women's basketball team will close out their quick two-game road trip on Saturday, February 8, as the Raiders are set to face Cleveland State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Wright State is 13-10 overall and 8-4 in Horizon League play coming into Saturday's matchup, while Cleveland State is 17-6 overall and with a 7-5 mark in HL action.

The Raiders are coming off of a 67-54 victory over Youngstown State Thursday evening on the road in Youngstown. The second quarter was the difference in the contest as the Raiders outscored the Penguins 19-7 in that period while the other three quarters each had scoring differentials of just one point.

Senior Michal Miller and Angel Baker both had a game-leading 12 points for the Raiders with Miller finishing the contest shooting 5-for-16 from the field, 1-for-4 from three point range and 1-for-1 from the line. Baker was 6-for-18 from the field providing five assists for the Raiders and pulling down five rebounds as well. Anisja Harris and Shamare Hale both contributed 10 points to the Raiders 76. Harris finished the contest with her first career double-double, going 4-for-8 from the field, 2-for-4 from beyond on the arc and pulled down a game-leading 11 rebounds. Hale was 5-for-8 from the field and pulled down nine rebounds for the Raiders.

As a team, Wright State leads the Horizon League in rebounds per game (42.87), offensive rebounds per game (16.5) and total rebounds (986) – marks that rank as the 17th, 7th and 6th most in the NCAA, respectively.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • Cleveland State ranks 18th nationally with 242 total steals as one of the best defensive teams in Division I. Last time out, the Vikings recorded 10 steals against Northern Kentucky, marking the 10th time this season that they have posted 10+ takeaways in a game. Through 23 games, the Vikings have forced their opponents into 409 turnovers, owning a league-best 3.48 turnover margin. 
     
  • With a pair of shots from behind-the-arc against Northern Kentucky last time out, sophomore JaMiya Braxton eclipsed the 100 mark for her career. For the season, Braxton has converted 52 three-pointers, and leads the Horizon League averaging 2.4 per game.
     
  • Chris Kielsmeier is in his second season at the helm of the Cleveland State women's basketball program. Before coming to Cleveland State, Kielsmeier had stops at Wayne State (NE) and Howard Payne, becoming the all-time winningest coach at both schools. During his time at Howard Payne, Kielsmeier led the program to a Division III National Title.
