
Wright State welcomes HL newcomer Robert Morris; Friday night on ESPNU

The Wright State men's basketball team returns home to the Nutter Center this weekend and welcomes Horizon League newcomer Robert Morris to town for a pair of games. Friday night's game will tip at 9 p.m. and will be on ESPNU, while Saturday will be a 5 p.m. tip.
Raider fans can follow the action on ESPNU on Friday and ESPN+ on Saturday. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will be calling the play-by-play on WRZX 106.5 FM both days, and can also be heard on ESPN+ on Saturday.

Last time out, Wright State swept IUPUI on the road last weekend, winning Friday afternoon's opener 95-65 before a 100-72 victory on Saturday. Friday's win was paced by Grant Basile's new career-best 24 points as he tallied 15 of his 24 points in the second half, finishing the afternoon shooting 8-of-11 from the floor with a perfect 8-of-8 mark from the free throw stripe while pulling down eight rebounds. Loudon Love finished with the only double-double of the game, tallying 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tanner Holden added 15 points of his own, with Trey Calvin finishing with 12 points and Tim Finke chipping in 11 points. Saturday saw Basile collect 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting with a new career-best three three-point baskets and 12 first half points. Holden and Finke each finished with 12 points, while Love finished with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Robert Morris comes into the weekend 3-7 overall and 2-5 in its first season in the Horizon League. The Colonials are set to play in the Nutter Center for the first time ever. Robert Morris and Wright State have previously met twice in the Raiders' now 51 seasons of basketball - both back in Wright State's early years. The first meeting came Jan. 24, 1977 inside the old Physical Education Building on the Wright State campus - an 80-76 Raider victory. The following season, the Raiders made the return trip to Robert Morris and came back home with a 90-81 victory on Jan. 26, 1978.
COLONIAL ROAD
Robert Morris lost back-to-back home games last weekend against Northern Kentucky, including an overtime game on Saturday night, and have lost four straight overall after dropping a pair at UIC the weekend prior. The Colonials were picked to finish fourth in the 2020 Horizon League Preseason Poll, and have seen five of their first seven games as a member of the Horizon League decided by five points or less, including two that have gone to overtime. The Colonials are 1-4 (.250) in those contests. AJ Bramah leads the Horizon League in scoring at 21.5 points per game while ranking third in the circuit in rebounding (9.7 per game). He also ranks fifth in the league in free-throw percentage (.797) and sixth in field goal percentage (.513). Jon Williams leads the Horizon League and ranks sixth in NCAA Division I in assist-to-turnover ratio at 4.30. In nine games in 2020-21, Williams has handed out 43 dimes against 10 turnovers. He also ranks fifth in the Horizon League in assists per game (4.78).
LOVE WATCH
Loudon Love was named to the Lou Henson Award mid-season Watch List, the award presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player. A two-time member of the Lou Henson All-America Team, Love was previously named to the award's preseason watch list prior to the season, is averaging a double-double with 14.6 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game in 15 games this season entering the weekend's action. In Horizon League contests, the preseason player of the year selection has upped his production even more, currently holding a 15.1 points per game average.
GREAT GRANT
Grant Basile was named the Horizon League's Player of the Week on Jan. 25 after back-to-back 20-plus point games at IUPUI. Basile finished with a new career-high 24 points on Jan. 22, and followed that up with a 20-point effort on Jan. 23.
