
Raiders hit the road, set to face Purdue Fort Wayne

The Wright State women's basketball returns to the road to face off against the newest Horizon League opponent Purdue Fort Wayne* for a pair of games this weekend. The Raiders and Mastodons will square off Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2Â p.m.

*Wright State was originally set to play UIC but COVID-19 protocols within the Flames program prompted the schedule change.
The Wright State women's basketball dropped back-to-back contests to another new face to the Horizon League, Robert Morris on January 22 and 23 – snapping a seven-game HL winning streak. On Friday, the Raiders fell to the Colonials 40-43 in Moon Township, PA. Senior Tyler Frierson tallied her second double-double of the season, recording 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds to lead the Raiders, while Shamarre Hale and Jada Roberson each added seven points of their own.
Saturday saw freshman Channing Chappell tally a career-high 22 points going a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 6-of-6 from behind the arc. The entire contest was a back-and-forth affair that saw a pair of Tyler Frierson layups tied the contest at 53-all before the half. Following the half, Tyler Frierson's layup just one minute into the third quarter give Wright State a 37-35 advantage. Channing Chappell started an 11-2 run by Wright State, as the Raiders went on to outscore RMU 16-10 in the third quarter before RMU went on an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to just three. Over the final six minutes of the contest, the Colonials outscored the Raiders 21-7.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Prior to joining the Horizon League, Purdue Fort Wayne had been a member of the Summit League since 2007, becoming the third Summit League school to make the move to the HL.
- Riley Ott leads the Mastodons with 10.9 points per game on the year, she also tallies 2.7 rebounds per game. Jaida Wolfork paces Purdue Fort Wayne with 5.2 rebounds per game while also adding 4.9ppg.
- The Mastodons finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 5-24 and a 1-15 mark in Summit League action.
