Baker tallies 1,000th point in Raiders road win

The Wright State women's basketball team returned to the win column in convincing fashion Friday afternoon, defeating Purdue Fort Wayne 77-50 on the road as 11 different Raiders contributed to the score line with three in double figures.

Wright State is now 10-5 overall and 10-3 in conference action, while Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 0-15 overall and 0-13 in Horizon League play.

An Angel Baker jump shot started the scoring efforts for Wright State who went on an 18-0 run over nearly seven minutes before Fort Wayne's Aubrey Stupp's three-pointer gave the Mastodons their first points of the contest. The Raiders outscored the Mastodons 22-7 at the end of the first quarter and kept the same momentum heading into the second quarter. Wright State headed into the locker room up 43-22.

Much like the first half, Baker got the offense started for the Raiders just 30 seconds into the third quarter as her three-point shot gave Wright State a 46-22 advantage. PFW looked to inch their way back into the contest, as the third quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw the Raiders tally just one more point, 18-17, for the quarter. Wright State used a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter over four-minutes to secure the lead.

Angel Baker recorded a game-leading 21 points for Wright State in 29 minutes of action, while Shamarre Hale tallied 13 points and Emani Jefferson added 11 points of her own. Baker's 21 points against the Mastodons helped her surpassed 1,000 career points. The Indianapolis native now has 1,015 total career points. 

Baker finished the contest 9-for-16 from the field, 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, and adding four assists. Hale pulled down six rebounds and finished the contest 6-for-7 from the field in just 14 minutes of play. Jefferson tallied a perfect 5-for-5 outing at the free throw line while also pulling down four rebounds and providing three assists.

The Raiders shot 48.4 percent for the game, while the Mastodons shot 26.6 percent for the contest. Wright State tallied 13 points off Wright State turnovers, compared to PFW's five. The Raiders outscored the Mastodons 42-14 in the paint.

Wright State won the battle on the boards for the 14th consecutive contest, out rebounding Fort Wayne 49-31 overall. Wright State won the defensive battle on the boards, pulling down 35 rebounds to PFW's 94. The offensive side of things side Wright State pull down 14 to the 'Dons 12. Notably, the Raiders bench outscored the Mastodon's 33-27.
