
Golf closes fall with fourth straight team title as Haney adds individual honors

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team closed out its fall schedule with its fourth consecutive team title as the Raiders captured the Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. In addition to the team title, Bryce Haney won the top individual honors, becoming the fourth different Raider to record an individual win this fall.

Wright State led by 13 strokes after Monday's opening two rounds, and the outcome was never in doubt as the Raiders finished the 54 holes with an 848 total, four-under final scorecard, with Horizon League foe Youngstown State the closest competition at 18-over with an 870 team score in second place.

Haney finished his tournament with back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 to capture the individual title at four-under 209, one stroke better than Blake Soloman of Dayton. With the win, Haney joins Cole Corder, Tyler Goecke and Mikkel Mathiesen as individual winners this fall.

Gocke finished third overall on Tuesday afternoon, moving up six spots after a three-under final round to finish at one-under with a 212 scorecard for the tournament. Mathiesen and David Root were also both inside the top 10, finishing tied for seventh and tied for ninth, respectively, with Mathiesen finishing two-over with a 215 total score and Root a shot behind at three-over 216. Corder rounded out the Raider lineup, turning in a five-over, 218 three round score to finish tied for 13th.

Wright State finishes its first fall under new head coach Conner Lash with the four straight team titles, winning the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational, Valpo Fall Invitational, Georgia State Invitational and the Flyer Invite after opening the fall with a second-place team finish at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational.
